I lived with this hunger long before the Hail Mary. This is nothing new. I’m fine.
Right up until Rocky asks another question.
“When last time you touch other human person skin, question?”
Oh. Oh no. “When I… a few days after I first woke up here.”
Rocky starts to relax for a split second, but then tightens when something occurs to him.
“Grace crewmates dead when you wake up. You said this, statement. You not even know your own name, remember nothing, see dead bodies, confirm?”
I nod, because if I open my mouth I will gag.
“When last time Grace touch ALIVE human person, question.”
I swallow thickly. I don’t answer aloud because I know Rocky can hear the hitch in my breath. My stomach churns with fresh bile. He senses my vital signs tick over into stress patterns and goes very, very still again.
“Grace. When last time, question.”
I clench my jaw so hard my temples ache, and beg him with my eyes to just stop.
“Grace. Please say not when… when Evil Stratt humans put you to sleep.”
I can taste grass.

Summary
In a world where witchers were created with a built-in second chance when a normal man would die, Geralt believes he killed one of his brothers in the Tournament and refuses to cause the death of another witcher ever again. This might mean a lot more time rescuing his fellows, but also a lot more people who will come when the battle with the Wild Hunt finally calls.
Basically a retelling of Witcher 3 game with a lot of liberties taken. Almost everyone not met in game is inspired by inexplicifics' works one way or another, though none of them match exactly after they mutated these last two months of nonstop writing.
Written for the AWAU Fan Server Prompt Fest (Summer 2023) Prompt 3 "Animal Transformation". Though ultimately prompts 1, 4, and 5 all sort of snuck in there too. The first chapter was going to be a standalone thing, but then the story just kept coming, so I figured I'd finish it instead of making it a series.

Summary
Jan is, as far as he knows, the only one aware of this particular oddity of Kaer Morhen. There are, of course, quite a few oddities in this keep, not the least of which are the Witcher inhabitants themselves, but this particular oddity goes well beyond anything Jan has ever encountered. Were he a less practical man, it might have scared him away. But Jan has sworn his service to the White Wolf, and Jan does not break his word.
Besides, all things considered, ‘magical building that can rearrange and grow itself seemingly at will’ is certainly odd, but also quite useful for a man in Jan’s position.
