    Charles Bingley takes residence of Netherfield Park for one reason: to give his friend Darcy a peaceful sanctuary after a brutal year. After Wickham’s scheme was revealed, Georgiana’s attempted suicide left her crippled and catatonic. Darcy, blaming himself, fell into self-destructive despair that even his closest friend could not break through. It is only when Darcy is alone in the countryside near Meryton that he finds a reason to hope: a beautiful young woman, walking alone, who he deliriously thinks is an angel.
