“Man, it’s really coming down out there. Should we be worried?” Jax asked. Kinger shook himself and looked over to notice the snow piling up on the ground, the bushes, the car. The trees were starting to sparkle with fallen crystals.
“Oh, my, a winter wonderland! I wonder if there’ll be any flutterflakes!” Kinger exclaims, excited to see one of his favorite insects.
Jax gives him a look. “…No. I don’t think there are,” he says hollowly.

Summary
A distinct pop rings behind him. “What’s taking you so— oh my! What happened to the lights? I know I put some in here!”
Kinger turns just in time to see Caine’s eyes frantically searching to confirm his own competence, that he really didn’t just forget something so important as being able to see in the tent. A diligent AI, as always. Not perfect, but god knows Kinger isn’t either, so why would he expect that from his creation?
Well, not just his— they had a whole team, after all, and Queenie would not take kindly to not getting credit for her wonderful additions.
Their creation. All of their life’s work.
Kinger’s eyes crinkle fondly, no mouth to betray how he is smiling on the inside. “Hello, Caine.” He says. “I think this is some of your best work yet.”
(Or as the rest of the gang engages in a fast food masquerade, Kinger finds just enough sanity to talk to Caine properly. If only everything he said didn’t terrify Caine, or this might’ve all gone differently.)

A second passed, then Shigeo nodded. After a deep breath, he glanced up to meet Reigen’s concerned eyes. “Looking back now, I realize you… had some hard times, in your life. Correct me if I’m wrong. But I’ve been thinking about it now, as an adult. About some of the things I remember.”
It felt like the air had been sucked from the room. “Go on,” Reigen said, his voice uncharacteristically quiet.

Tenna's potential partners needed to learn one thing as soon as possible: Ann was an incredibly anxious and nervous darkner. So when her girlfriend suddenly disappeared in broad daylight, the first thing she did was start to worry. No note, no warning, none of the staff even caught a glimpse of her – it was as if the woman had simply vanished. Even Ramb, who always managed to stay on top of even the smallest events while remaining in one place, knew nothing. When she managed to reach her by phone, Spamton told her some utter nonsense that made Tenna's wires feel like they were twisted.
As they said goodbye and the room fell into a heavy silence, the same words kept repeating themselves in Tenna's head.
A couple of weeks.
A couple of weeks at least.
She’ll spend at least this week and the next alone.aka Spamton leaves the TV world to hide her molt.

Locking them in their little hidden spot, however..” he concluded and blinked as warmth radiated off of Bill’s seat.
Glancing up, his muse was staring at him with an expression of a raised eyebrow. Slowly, his expression shifted to a thrilled grin. He leaned his elbows on the table and leaned in. Warmth seeped into Ford's bones, even through his t-shirt and jacket he fell asleep in. The being seemed to just.. glow.

“Oh,” he says, slipping out of him, more sound than word. “I can—” He huffs a laugh, incredulous. The backs of his eyes prickle, his sinuses burn. His voice is unexpectedly choked when he tells him, “I can feel your heart beating.”
It’s nearly as fast as Irving’s, and steady, and strong. He’s alive, right under his hand, where his palm presses to exposed skin and body-warm white cotton.
Burt reaches up, letting his hand settle along Irving’s throat. He hasn’t undressed nearly as far, not yet, but—
“And I can feel yours,” he says, palm over his pulse point.

The Doctor was like mist, most of the time, slipping through his fingers, never quite definable – but Jamie had always prided himself on being able to read him well. Not perfectly, maybe, but he’d spent enough time watching him to know the faces he pulled, the little quirks and habits that gave away his mood. He could tell when the Doctor was bubbling with nervousness rather than excitement, knew when he was masking his worry, knew when he was biting back laughter or smothering a smile or trying to hide a twinkle in his eyes. He knew the Doctor.
So why was there something on his face now that he couldn’t recognise? Something he’d never seen before?
Ever so slowly, the Doctor twitched – cleared his throat – and ducked his head forward. His eyes flickered down, just for the briefest of moments, too quickly for Jamie to track, but somehow he knew they had caught on his lips.
Like he had been about to kiss him.
Jamie makes a delivery, and gets something more in return.

His head bowed almost automatically, as if he was in mourning. Maybe he was. Mourning the smoking ruins of their friendship, everything they’d had, the best thing in his life. Would the Doctor even want to travel with him anymore, now he knew how Jamie felt?
“I meant it,” he mumbled. “I – aye, I – I meant it. I thought I wasnae going tae have another chance.”
When he dared to glance up, just for a moment, he found the Doctor staring at him, lower lip captured between his teeth like he was trying to feel the ghost of the kiss. Or to chase it away. Jamie had tried both, last night, lying in his bunk and staring up at the stippled metal ceiling.
“Jamie, ah -” Even with his head bowed, Jamie could see the Doctor’s fingers moving, twisting over each other restlessly. “I’m not human. You do know that, don’t you?”
Believing they're about to die, Jamie kisses the Doctor. The next morning, they face the consequences.

The Doctor curled his hands over the end of Jamie’s bedframe – a solid plank of oak, stained but unpainted. Steadfast and sturdy, like Jamie himself usually was. But now he was crumpling, falling to pieces, a bough felled in a storm, and the Doctor hadn’t the faintest idea of how to hold him together. “Yes. Ah – I’m not sure what you went through, these last few days, but I am gathering that it was rather – worse than what happened to me.” He blinked, bobbing closer. “What did happen to you, Jamie?”
Jamie just scoffed. “Nothin’ happened to me.”
“Ah.” Another approach, then. “What, ah – what did you see?”
That earned him a shrug, at least. “I saw people.” Jamie’s voice was a little less irritated, now, a little more listless. “Fightin’ for somethin’ better. An’ they lost.” His head lolled to one side, his eyes fixed lazily on the Doctor. There was something steely beneath the exhaustion, though, like he was daring him to argue. “Isn’t that how it always goes?”
The Doctor checks in on Jamie after their adventure with Spartacus, and finds he's struggling more than he lets on. Comforting him might just give them both the direction they've been seeking.
