    Summary

Since their return from killing Avizendum at the Storm Spire, Viren has been more on edge than usual. Harrow decides it is time to do something about it, the only question being if his solution will help or hinder their friendship.

Harrow watches Viren stride from the council chambers, the stiff hunch of his shoulders, the barely contained contempt as the door slams shut behind him. In the silence left behind the other council members sit regarding the table, occasional glances pass between them, raised eyebrows, suppressed grimaces.

He could ignore it and carry on, after all it’s hardly unheard of for Viren to lose his temper in a council meeting. But Harrow hasn’t seen him snap quite like this before, as if every fibre of his self-control has been worn away to nothing.

So, so beautiful. Strange, and sad, and somehow probable, too.

    Summary

The king is dead. Opeli prays for the sake of what is owed to each other; Viren cuts - as far as he's concerned, necessity is its own absolution. What's left to determine is whose fault it all is. As the saying goes, the absent are always wrong...

    Summary

Corvus has one job, to find Viren and Claudia and return them to Katolis to stand trial. However, when he finds Viren alone and wandering through the woods of Xadia it becomes apparent that this will not be as straightforward as he’d expected.

Death seems to have destroyed something in Viren, he is plagued by odd visions of the future and reality feels as if it is fraying around him. There only seems to be one reason for him to exist now, to try and change the fate that he has set in motion, but perhaps it is already too late.

The more time Corvus spends in Viren’s company the more he starts to question what is real and what is not and why the heart above all things holds its own desires that cannot really be explained.

Read two chapters so far. What powerful, beautiful writing! I just pray the writer tells the whole story - I can see it is not completed, at least as far as the chapter count goes. My efforts to do Viren justice pale in comparison. This is heartbreaking, clever and beautifully put together. Wow.
