Discombobulated, lost, and terrified, Avila must embark on a treacherous journey she did not ask for to track down a missing comrade, find a way home, and confront her own skeletons along the way. All the while, forces familiar and new alike align against her and her newfound allies to eradicate any small glimmer of hope they might try to cling to.
For a woman so embittered and so cynical, such things are rare, and precious, and heartbreaking.
