At the first bite, Valjean gasped. The taste of fresh peaches filled his mouth, as sweet as if he'd just plucked it from the tree. He turned to Javert in wonder; Javert was similarly amazed, blinking as the sharp scent of lemon suffused his nose and melted in his mouth.

Cosette has found that it's possible that from misery can come mystery and excitement. However, her fairy-tale ending might not be at an end after all. Even common circumstances like browsing a bookstore start to bring together pieces of Cosette's past, and her father's, and he might begin to regret teaching her how to ask questions.
