Guo Changcheng burst into his (and Chu-ge's) apartment. Hurriedly he kicked his shoes off and almost he left his shoes sit there haphazardly, but in the end, he scooted them together neatly.
Then he slid his feet into slippers and rushed through their living room and into the little kitchen alcove.
"Chu-ge! Chu-ge! I got it!" He thrust the little plastic bag in his hands forward, to show that he really did purchase the -

Chu-ge widened his eyes slightly and raised one hand, but before he could speak, Ye Huo slid into view.

Summary
Somehow Guo Changcheng was breezing through the training today.
He was certain it was the first time he successfully countered all of Chu-ge's attacks.
And even as they continued to exchanged blows Guo Changcheng kept evading (sometimes) neatly. It was only as Chu-ge slowed that Guo Changcheng realized they were almost through their whole set.
"Alright, I think that's enough for today."

The last few hours had been quite difficult for Shen Wei and the SID as a whole, as well.
Too much violence, too little time to heal, and now the majority of them were sprawled out in the SID HQ asleep.
Only Shen Wei stood, listless, expression drawn tight as he looked unseeingly around himself. He was exhausted just like everyone else, but the loss of his pendant weighed ever-so-heavily on him and it trumped any physical wound he had.

“Boss.” Lin Jing’s harried sounding voice said. “You gotta get down here. Hei Pao Shi is trapped behind an energy barrier, and Lao Chu says you might be the only one able to get past it.”

The music was intense and so was the crush of bodies. To say the celebration was a hit was definitely an understatement.
Guo Changcheng could barely hear his own voice above the heavy thrum of bass, as he valiantly tried to move through the crowd. For every step forward he took he found himself jostled five steps back. He could have continued to fight, but he knew he wouldn’t gain anything from it.

Chu Shuzhi barely restrained his impatience. The amount of food they were buying was beyond indecent. Silently – because Guo Changcheng was chatting up the vendor – Chu Shuzhi placed the blame solely on Da Qing.
That cat could eat just about everyone under the table, and it showed with how often the SID exceeded their allotted food budget every month. It was enough that Chu Shuzhi rolled his eyes in exasperation.
Movement, however, caught his attention. He found Guo Changcheng extending his phone to pay, but before he could Chu Shuzhi leaned around him. He tapped his own phone against the reader and as the payment was recorded, Chu Shuzhi grabbed several of the bags.

“Hong-jie! Hong-jie!” Guo Changcheng knew he sounded far too upset, but he couldn’t help it. He stood just outside the little cave that she had called first dibs on and waited for her to respond to his calls.
“What’s the emergency, Xiao Guo?” She asked as she stepped out, but then she stopped, as her gaze landed on his hair. “What the hell happened to you?”
“Well.” Guo Changcheng began. “I was trying to braid it – like everyone else does! – but it’s harder to braid when it’s your own hair, and I keep messing it up.” He couldn’t seem to stop himself when he whispered. “And now it’s knotted. Do you think I’ll have to get it cut and regrown again?”

“There is a shape to it.” Professor Shen murmured, thin strands of dark energy wisping off his hands. “Have you felt anything when you call upon your own gifts?”
“Maybe?” Guo Changcheng uncertainly offered. Sometimes, he thought he felt something, but it was all so nebulous, and he couldn’t decide if it was truly different or his imagination running away with it. “But I’m really not sure.”
Professor Shen smiled in understanding, expression kind. “I would give it time.” He advised, the curls of dark energy dispersing. “Your powers were acquired in an unusual setting, so we must consider that the appearance of your wings might be delayed.”
