Stede goes to find out what the hell is going on but joins up, quite accidentally, with Edward Teach, a petty conman with a heart of gold.
Maybe Jack Rackham isn't what Stede really wants after all.

Stede has always longed to see the Northern Lights, but never had the chance to go during his marriage as Mary hated vacationing anywhere cold. With his father’s retirement looming, Stede only has a small window of time to achieve his dream before he’s tied down to his responsibility to the Bonnet family legacy. He sets out on an impulsive and woefully unprepared trip to Finland to see the Northern Lights and perhaps discover something about himself along the way.
Edward Teach moved to Finland years ago for a change of scenery and to get away from… well, he doesn’t like thinking about it. His tour business is successful, and he’s proud to earn a living showing off all the wonderful things about the place he calls home now. Although, maybe, if he’s being honest, he’s just a bit lonely? Still, no time to dwell on that since it’s his busiest season, and one of the best times of year for his biggest moneymaker - snowmobile tours to view the Northern Lights.

Their meet-cute hits a bit of a snag when an incident at the concert threatens the nationwide tour Blackbeard and his band are about to go on, putting Stede under a spotlight he never wanted or asked for.

“You know what I liked?” Stede whispers against his skin, and Ed makes a questioning noise.
“I liked the fire in your eyes, darling. I liked how jealous you were. How you couldn’t stand the thought of me with anyone else,” Stede winds a hand into Ed’s hair, tugs a little to make Ed bare his throat a bit more, and Ed whimpers.
“Is that it, sweetheart?” Stede asks, “Did you get jealous at the thought of me being someone else’s Daddy?”
--Ed and Stede meet at a University in which Stede is a tenured Professor and head of Department and in which Ed is a Grad student (in a completely different department). They have the hots for each other obvi, but keep it quiet. They have not discussed monogamy. The following is the Fallout.
(I’m imagining that Stede is 40-45 yrs old and Ed is 25-30. Change that up as you will, though :))
