“Where is Teacher Grace’s family crest?” Quinn asks, jumping up and down like a bouncy ball, almost bowling Roo over who shrieks in outrage. Too much energy, that one.
“Uh.” Before I can explain that humans don’t really have anything like that (at least nothing that gets carved into their skin) Sam taps against the barrier.
“Right there, stupid. On Teacher Grace’s arm-limb.”
I look down to see what they are pointing at.
It’s Rocky’s clawprint. The one he left behind when he pulled me to safety after the Adrian fiasco.

The pebbles are too invested in their teacher’s personal life and Grace finally realizes that he’s part of a family. He has a lot of feelings about that.

Summary
Everything was too soft. I wanted pressure. The last time I'd felt that had been when I'd been squeezed in between my chair and the monitors, and that hadn't exactly been pleasant. I wanted someone, on purpose, to press against my skin and muscle, and I wanted to feel it.
Just the thought of it made me want to weep.
God, I was pathetic.

What the title says. About 11 years ago (from my perspective; relativity is weird) I was launched into space onboard the Hail Mary to figure out a solution to the Astrophage problem. Now I live on an alien planet I call Erid, in the 40-Eridani system. Yes, I’m actually Ryland Grace. Ask me anything.
Also, can someone please tell me if Eva Stratt is alive? And ideally send me a video of you punching her in the face? Guess that’s a long shot, but it can’t hurt to ask.

"The thing about sharing a spaceship with a guy in a hamster ball is you end up doing the grunt work. So here we are, en route to an alien planet, and I am once again hanging off the side of the dang ship. At least this time I’m securely fastened and not watching us sink toward our doom."

All of a sudden Len stops chirping and holds up a claw instead. It is something Teacher Grace does all the time during lessons to get their attention and the group instinctively falls silent at the sign.
It’s only then that they notice it.
The silence.
Teacher Grace hasn’t moved at all.
