It was already 9:00 p.m. when Michael, who usually came home much earlier, made his entrance. Something in his attitude was different. Instead of the usual brusqueness and disregard for the rules of the house, he seemed to be enveloped in a kind of calm. He ignored Dad, who was in the living room, and headed straight for him and Elizabeth.
Evan's surprise was total when his brother, with an expression that was halfway between despair and tenderness, hugged them both. It wasn't the kind of gesture she would expect from him, much less after having seen him tease her with that unpleasant mask.
From the corner of the room, William, the boys' father, watched the scene with a mixture of surprise and confusion. The way his eldest son had behaved, the abrupt change in his behavior, and the way he was clinging to his brothers, all of that was a mystery to him. He stopped his reprimand to watch, wondering what had caused such a transformation in his son. The question was drawn in his mind: What had happened for his stupid son to change? Was it a simple emotional reaction, or was there something deeper behind this sudden change?

Suddenly, a melody brought him out of his thoughts The song playing in the auditorium was familiar and Henry looked up at the stage. A young man with brown hair and hazel eyes was singing a piece that Michael had composed years ago The lyrics of the song were "Because everything is far away, because without you there is nothing moreAs the boy performed the song, Henry felt tears begin to well up in his eyes. He remembered the first time he had taken Gregory in his arms It didn't take him long to realize that the young man on stage was Gregory
Once the song ended, Henry approached the young man with a mixture of hope and sadness-What is your name? Henry asked his voice shaking with the urgency of need
"Gregory" the boy responded with a smile
"That song was very beautiful... but, unfortunately there is no place for you here" Henry said sadness evident in his words
Gregory, watching in disappointment as a heartbroken Henry turned to walk away

Jon's return, weeks later, was not as Damian had imagined. At that first meeting, although their eyes were the same, the way Jon looked at him was different. There was something in his posture, something in his attitude that did not fit, and although his words were familiar, the tone was different. He was not the same Jon who had been his friend, his companion, his confidant. The essence had changed, and despite the hope that still burned in his chest, something inside him screamed that nothing would be the same.
But, even with doubt running through his veins, Damian waited. He waited, not knowing exactly what he was waiting for, but waiting with the certainty that Jon would return. Despite everything that had changed, all the answers they did not find, his faith in that boy with the red cloak did not disappear.
In his hands, Damian held a small object, something that Jon had given him before leaving. Something that he asked him to take care of, to protect, with the promise that he would claim it when he returned. Time passed, but Jon never asked for what he had left him. And so, Damian kept it, clinging to the hope that one day, perhaps, that promise would be fulfilled.
