Just stared, eyes widening till they were the size of plates, it would have been almost comical, had it not been for the situation. He never blinked, as if, if he looked long enough, the world would dissolve around him, and he’d finally prove to himself, that yes, he was, in fact, dreaming.
Except, It didn’t do such a thing. No matter how long he looked.
No… No No No. You got to be kidding me.
Large indigo eyes stared back, bright and confused. His hand raised almost mechanically to the other, and pinched it unthinkingly, instantly wincing in pain. It hurt, it was pain, and it was real.
In that moment, he knew without a doubt, for a fact, that he was awake. Perfectly, widely, awake. Terribly so.
That wasn’t a dream.
