Summary
One rainy, foggy afternoon, one of her kits die, and she has just as much control over how she feels as there is of her dead baby to bury. That is to say, absolutely fucking nothing.

Sometime later, the sound of paws on not-quite mud but still wet enough ground to annoyingly cling to fur rouses the she-cat from the light sleep Lichensplash's warmth and the pitter-patter of rainfall led her into. Curiosity leads Thistletail to shift slightly, enough to see, and the sight of a certain patrol brings immense joy.
It's the patrol Havenecho was on. Thistle wanted to greet her, say hello, and offer soothing purrs and licks after a night in the pouring rain. But here, now, halfway across camp, it is noted that Havenecho is nowhere to be seen; that the group looks so sorrowful and defeated and there are only two of the initial three that left with Haven. The returning cats hang their heads low and lower still as Thistletail approaches and looks over them, asking where her daughter is.

or; one of Thistle's adult children dies and, seeing as her kits were the only sanity she had in regards to her and Cloudstar, she has a mental break.

i wanted to write something for a clan i'm in that's in the clangen discord server, called Hemlockclan.

You are loved here, they say, and Thistletail can't quite believe it's true. Because if she was loved, they would not have let Cloudstar claim her only two moons after she became a warrior. If she was loved, they would not have let Cloudstar mate her only three moons after that.
She was seventeen moons old at the start of her pregnancy and now with Fogtail fully grown, it rubs her all kinds of the wrong way. Did no cat know? If they did, was it willing compliance? Had Cloudstar been interested in her from the start?
The only cats to show concern were Lichensplash, Mothswipe, and Kestreldart. How is it that the only cats to care were those her own age and one adult? She knew she was worrisome in her younger years but it wasn't enough to be deserving of this, was it?

or; Thistletail can't explain it, but she feels wrong. That's okay though, Lichensplash knows how to fix it. He always does.
