Rumi disappears, for the first time, when she is four years old.
She wakes to a world that is not her own, and it burns. The soles of her feet strip away, charred by the heat, and ash curls inside her lungs. Eomma! she will scream herself hoarse, but no one will answer.
And then, she will be consumed by the fire.
And then, she will return. Disoriented, unburnt, as if nothing had happened. As if she hadn't come out of hell alive—and Rumi will scream.

Trickle.
The skin on her arm is cleaved away. It is rough and messy and painful, but Rumi doesn’t care. For once, she has hope to fix things. Through half-lidded eyes, she watches the wound knit itself back together. Her hand is still holding the knife, and she is willing to try as many times as necessary to fix herself.
It heals quickly, a large scar taking over its place. Her chest feels empty, like a part of her soul had been taken away, but—
