Summary
Nayeon is loved. By her friends, by her coworkers and by herself. It is not arrogance. It is simply the shape of her life. warm, easy and full of people who are glad she exists. She has never had reason to question it.
She questions it on a Tuesday in a dog daycare, courtesy of two enormous wolf dogs named Cloud and Luna who seemed to be personally offended by her very existence. By the end of the day she looks like she had lost a war. She has, in fact, lost a war.
She is never coming back. She is absolutely certain of this.
Then the owners come to pick the dogs up. And across the room stands a woman Nayeon can barely see and somehow cannot look away from. Elegance oozing from her even though she wasn’t trying to be and eyes that do something completely unreasonable to Nayeon's ability to think clearly.
Never, it turns out, is a very short word for something that lasts a very long time.
---------
OR: Nayeon gets ego checked by two dogs who seemed to hate her guts. She was ready to say goodbye and good riddance to the demon dogs. That is until she saw their mom.
