He wanted Merlin to make a joke about it. Something deadpan and snarky and so typically him, like, “You never had any sense to begin with, you prat.”
But Merlin didn’t make any jokes, and Arthur almost felt like he couldn’t breathe.

Magic is outlawed in Camelot, and the reveal of Merlin's magic leaves Arthur with no choice but to sentence his loyal and once-trusted friend to death. Which goes somehow worse than what one might expect for it to go. And then Arthur wakes up; and there's a black serpent coiled on his bed. And then Merlin is bursting through the doors...

"There's nothing wrong with you," Mike says immediately, his desire to defend Will kicking in. "Maybe you just haven't found the right person."
Will turns his head to look at him, his eyes searching. "What if there is no right person? What if I'm just... not into it? Or worse, what if I'm into stuff that's so weird no one else is?"
Mike's heart starts pounding. "What stuff?"
