A minute of still more awkward silence passed before Lamb stood up. "Alright, get up, you're coming with me."
"What?" River asked because he couldn't have heard Lamb correctly.
"Are your ears out of order too? Jesus fucking Christ, Cartwright. You're coming home with me because you're in such a state I'm worried you'll throw yourself in the Thames and the paperwork for that would be a fucking nightmare."
A story mostly about River Cartwright and Jackson Lamb sitting on a sofa together, set almost entirely in Lamb's flat. River POV (with a Lamb POV epilogue). It's about the moments in between; it's also about grief and depression and memory and friendship and kindness, more or less (Lamb would have scathing things to say about this).
