Summary
Life has always been war and strife, finding happy moments in between in a perilous balance. Yet now peace is an option, the end of war and fighting and all the horrors of the world now pointed at the true terrors and not against the other people those horrors also hunt down.
A pact is made, meetings of peace set up and Laudna finds herself volunteering to attend them with the idea that she will be choosing a spouse from the Alliance to marry, to mesh them into the Horde and vice versa, a deeper bond to be sure these threads of tenuous joy would solidify in a real and solid future. She hadn't anticipated meeting a night elf who would immediately catch her eye and make her realize this could be so much more than just a marriage born of politics.

"Is this your first time purchasing?" the woman asks, and Imogen kind of feels like someone's kicked her in the stomach when the woman looks away from her to the shiny foil packs on their hangers and seems to actually focus on that.
"Yeah," Imogen says and if she uses the distraction to stare at the even lovelier side profile of this woman's face then whatever.
The woman turns to her rather abruptly, seems to stare at Imogen with a penetrating kind of gaze that makes Imogen feel a little off kilter. "You look like you'd enjoy psychic Pokémon," she says with absolutely no explanation or a break in eye contact.
Imogen is—weirdly—very into it.

Imogen has been launched from Ruidus as a plea from Liliana to avoid direct execution for treason. She has to find a way to respond to the messages in time to get the location of the sender. Laudna doesn't want to die alone. Imogen wants to save this person's life, especially since she never thought she'd be lucky enough to interact with another individual.

“Imogen Temult.”
The woman examined her hand for a beat, not with hostility, but something more like surprised curiosity. Before Imogen could yank it away, cold fingers wrapped themselves around Imogen’s hand and gave it a gentle shake.
Imogen put every single brain cell she had left into trying not to think about those long and cool fingers, and how they might feel in other places.
“Laudna,” the woman introduced herself.
“Beautiful name,” Imogen said, almost biting her tongue off after she finished saying it.

Imogen and her daughter Flora have just moved to Jrusar. Laudna quickly becomes Imogen's best friend, and the two of them learn to navigate life and love together.

Starting with the aquarium, a place that she can see flashes of in her memories that fill her chest with warmth and joy.
She'd go there and see the animals, and she'd enjoy it. A place for new beginnings and brave visits, and a cute elf who just happens to be extra sweet to her.
