Summary
Love is the feeling that chokes him, as a staff is brought down upon his head. It’s the feeling that drags him to the underworld, as someone who once sworn to always be there for him turns his back on Macaque. It’s the wind whispering its sorrows, as he refuses to give up the doomed fight until he can no longer breathe anymore.
It is the chains burning into his skin, it’s the screams of those his king holds dear, it is watching him get angry over them and not for him. Love is the poison that keeps Macaque leashed, always coming back despite knowing the futility of it all. It is repeating the same actions, time and time again, knowing it only hurts you and not him. It is dying, time and time again, longing for a respite, for a rest that never comes, and yet, not hating the one who is responsible for keeping you here.
Macaque knows Love.
He fears it’s all he has ever known.
