Summary
Instead of Alastor killing his father and growing up to be a serial killer he runs away and joins the circus. He sends money home to his mama and avoids a life of poverty. He works through the ranks to become a professional knife thrower and sideshow geek/cannibal.
Lucifer Morningstar is a widower having lost the love of his life and wife in a circus accident. He is trying to hold it together for the sake of his daughter Charlie and the circus itself.
His daughter hires a new knife thrower and suddenly life isn't so bad.

Summary
All his life Alastor had been nothing more but a pet. A slave. His mother had dreamed of his freedom once and had been burned by her hopes. Alastor had no such hopes. It had been crushed and destroyed beneath the hands of the various cruel alphas he had had to serve.
