Summary

There was something undeniably captivating in the man, in his perfectly crafted features and almost-glowing vivid red hair, carrying that effortless, otherworldly beauty only High Fae possessed. But those eyes, — Azriel shivered just looking into them, suddenly being made aware of the cold of the night surrounding the two of them. Those irises swirling like bright magma made the man an equal amount dangerous. Azriel let out a puff of smoke and even though the soft grey cloud hid the man from his vision for a moment, he could still clearly see the sharp light shining from those yellow pits.

Summary
This was about Eris. Not controlling him or ordering him around for the hell of it, but giving back his own sense of control that he seemed to have lost faith in. Azriel knew that a mistake like this wasn't enough to shake Eris entirely, but it had taken him by surprise. That, above most things, was something that Eris loathed. He prided himself on holding the power inside him with a steady fist, being able to lessen or tighten his grip with practically scientific precision. When that power got away from him, it tarnished his confidence, Azriel suspected. In himself, and in the mantle of immeasurable magic he had only possessed for less than a year.
So Azriel would give Eris something with no guessing games, and he would make the High Lord feel good while doing so. He would fasten the cord of control back around his mate’s smooth, pale neck, and hold his leash for him until he no longer felt unstable.
or: when Eris accidentally hurts one of Azriel's family members, leaving him ashamed and unmoored, the Shadowsinger takes some...creative liberties in helping his mate regain his confidence.

Summary

"Well, then, one could argue that it would be just as unfair. You're a High Lord now, after all." Rhys pointed out. Eris' smile melted away naturally, and he reclined back in his spot, throwing a hand around the back of the sofa.
"Why don't we ask him what he thinks? Shadowsinger," Eris called, jutting his chin right towards where Azriel stood, wreathed in shadows. "What are the odds that you could hold up in a fight now that I'm a High Lord?"
Azriel stood rooted to the spot, as if he were in a nightmare. He stared directly at Eris' smoldering eyes. Eris stared back.
