Lena Luthor had heard rumours about the newest addition to the research and development team. Genius level intellect, youngest PhD candidate to be accepted into the Biomedical Engineering doctoral program in NCU’s history. What Lena didn’t know was that Kara Danvers was about to change her life forever. A working relationship with Kara led to a friendship which led to a romance like nothing else Lena had ever known.
Five years together. Three years apart.
Lena only has herself to blame when Kara’s engagement to someone else is announced, her own fears having ruined her chances of happiness. Kara blinks up from the food to Lena’s chest—oops—before meeting Lena’s eyes. “Save you?” she says. “Haha. What. Like, uh, like Supergirl? Or whatever?”
“No, silly,” Lena says, smiling so fondly at her that it makes Kara a little lightheaded. “As my bodyguard, of course.”
“Oh right! That’s me!” Kara grins, puffing out her chest and clicking her heels and keeping her eyeline firmly above Lena’s shoulders. “At your service, ma’am. Ready to guard your—um.” She halts. “Your… body,” she finishes, flinching.
