For a few minutes, neither of them say anything. The only sounds in the space are the quiet splash of water and Stiles' increasingly frantic and uneven breaths. He's completely winded from over two hours of treading water with 190 pounds of dead wolfy weight wrapped around his shoulders, but more than that, he keeps slipping below the surface, losing buoyancy the longer he paddles. And each time he dips down he winds up swallowing or inhaling a bit more water, unable to stop his desperate gasps even as he sinks.

Stiles’ breath and future are taken away, all to save a village. He is a sacrifice more than a bride. The maid assists in fixing a choker around Stiles throat. Her hands are cold despite the roaring fire in the grate. The choker is a string of blood red rubies, they reflect the firelight with a wet shine like an open wound.

Peter was kind of surprised that Stiles was awake, considering how tired he had been earlier, but maybe Peter's confession had kept him up. It had exhausted him, bringing all that up again. At least he thought that was everything, which was a small comfort. Stiles knew all his secrets now. It was equal parts liberating and terrifying. Peter had shown his hand and now Stiles had all the power. Thankfully, he felt that he could trust Stiles with it.

When Stiles comes to Chris to tell him he's interested in pursuing a relationship with the snarky, brilliant phoenix firefighter he met through his job at the hospital, Chris isn't entirely surprised. They've been friends for a while, now, and Peter is exactly Stiles' type.
After ten years together, he knows Stiles inside and out- it isn't a shock that he's falling for Peter, or a shock that he's capable of considering anyone else. Stiles has never been less than open with him- but if this is going to work, Chris is going to have to be just as honest with Stiles, and with himself.
Some lines are hard to cross, even if those boundaries are self inflicted.

And with his heat just around the corner, Stiles doesn't think he has anything left to give. He needs a miracle.
He just didn't figure his miracle would wear Alexander Amosu and fight his battles with a smirk that could kick-start the apocalypse.

Peter Hale (RyloKen)It’s not until his dad curses, picks him up and pulls him into his lap, wraps him in his arms and mutters, I’m here, kid, I got you, that Stiles finally feels again.
And feeling again hurts.
It burns through him and sets everything aflame and he’s eight years old again, screaming himself awake from the nightmare that was his mother dying right in front of him. He chokes on his sobs, on his gulping breaths as his father holds him, as he rocks him and shushes him and yells for Parrish to find that stupid son of a bitch so I can shoot him!
Stiles doesn’t hear the response, he fades out and sinks into darkness.
His dad has him.
“It’s dark outside, quiet but for the chirp of oblivious and unfazed insects.He stays on his side, drained of everything and bone-tired. He feels as if he’s inhaled his pillow, feels as if his head’s been cracked open and left to bake in the sun.”
