the portal wasn't like usual, the swirl on the inside was more jagged, and it was glitching slightly with colours that didn’t even match... like, the colour of the portal was a more pale blue and neon yellow, it... didn't look good.
OR....
a virus snuck up on caines code while coding an adventure, leaving everyone confused and worried, they find caine after the portal opened again, only to see him a somewhat pathetic state.
