I believe every character has a story. This is Alfred Pennyworth's; how he and his family came to Wayne Manor, how World War II changed him, how his post war life and search for meaning eventually lead him back to Wayne Manor, finding purpose in supporting Bruce Wayne on his journey to becoming Batman.
The entire work will be novella length, but I try to have shorter chapters, and each part is a complete story. My writing style is almost a hybrid of prose and script.
Feedback is welcome and encouraged. This is drastically different than any Alfred backstory I've seen or read, and would love to know how it lands with Batman fans.

This work follows Bruce Wayne from childhood through the years he spends acquiring the skills that will define Batman. Beginning with his earliest efforts to understand crime, fear, and human behavior, it traces his development as a detective, a tactician, and a weapon—skills learned through exposure, discipline, and training across the world.
The story then examines what happens when that preparation is put into use: how fear functions when it’s real, how methods fracture under pressure, and what those choices cost the people involved—Bruce included.
This is a long-form examination of Batman not as a myth, but as a body of hard-won capabilities paid for in time, pain, and consequence.
