A startled yelp echoed from the showers just as Granger turned the corner and came face to face with Draco...who was wet in the shower, only a half wall covering his lower body.
"Granger, I'm showering!"
She turned her back immediately and rolled her eyes.
"Relax. I didn't see anything. Your male nudity is a much smaller problem than me not being able to breathe properly."
"And this couldn't have waited five minutes?" He should have sounded angry. Instead, something in his chest tightened at how wrong she looked even with her back turned--tense shoulders, one hand braced against a locker, breathing too shallow.
"Fine," Hermione sighed. "I didn't see anything, but if I had, it's very nice. You're fit. Be proud. Now fix your ribs."
Draco froze.
His ribs, the bludger from tryouts...
And suddenly he understood--she wasn't imagining pain. She was feeling his injuries, and worse than he was.
"Granger..."
"What?"
"You need to sit down."
"No, you need to stop being stu--"
One moment she was arguing. The next she was unconscious in his arms.
