“Do you...” There was blatant hope in his voice as he asked Jiang Cheng, “Do you want to get out of here?”
Not for the first time in the last few minutes, it got incredibly hard to breathe straight and his skin felt like it was on fire. He felt the man’s hand start to slip from around his neck, and- The thought of stopping, leaving when he was this close to getting what he’d come here for-
Jiang Cheng held him in place, wrapping an arm around his waist. “Yeah.”

Summary
Jiang Cheng loved soft, slow mornings with Nie Huaisang. They got to take their time and do whatever struck their fancy. If they wanted to cuddle on the couch for hours and hours, they could. No one could stop them, and neither of them would ever deny the other anything.
But there was an engagement ring in his pocket and anxiety in his chest and Jiang Cheng was really starting to hope a meteor would come through the ceiling and take him out before he could ruin this worse than he already had.

Jin Ling, clad in opulent robes that look somewhat comical on a boy of sixteen, inclines his head as his scribe makes a notation, and the noise rises as sect leaders pat themselves and each other on the back for a decision well made.
Jiang Cheng groans and downs his cup of wine in one go.
