Summary
It's like he wakes up in increments. First, the sound of the machines, again, droning on and on. Then voices, hushed but urgent. Then the pain, an insistent throb in his calf, his collarbone, his wrists. Finally, he opens his eyes and he sees that he is lying in a hospital bed.
He remembers next to nothing. Well, he remembers some things, some very random facts and a few important things from his childhood- like his family's faces, who they are (thank fuck he remembers that). He knows most general knowledge, like NFL rules and how to cook spaghetti and how to park a car, but has no memory attached to these facts. He knows all the Formula 1 world champions from when he was three to around age twelve. (Schumacher for five years in a row, Fernando Alonso twice, then Raikkonen, Hamilton, Button. Still got it.) But other than that- not much.
Lance wakes up from a crash and forgets.

He has a sudden, strong urge to get closer, brush up that curtain of bangs so he can get a look.”
When Shiro’s car breaks down, he thinks his day is ruined, but then he meets a beautiful mechanic tending to a row of perfect roses, and his heart says otherwise.

The words echoed in Stiles' head and as much as he didn't want to believe them, he thought back to Derek blushing after their time in the warehouse and how completely he had protected him. How he'd turned up before the pack. And he thought back to how scared the Alpha had been to let anyone in. And it was a little easier to believe that the reason he'd never let Stiles close to him was not because he hated him, but because he was scared of letting his guard down.
