Summary
“It's New Years! Everyone goes all out. And don't worry, Big Foot’s gonna take one look at you and drag you off to a bathroom for a blowie,” Santos winks and to his horror performs a very rude pantomime of oral sex that has Dennis’ entire face burning.
“Could you not?” Dennis hisses, mortified.

Summary
“Pathology being a dick?”
“No, American Airlines.”
“Huh?”
“I’m looking at tickets,” Dennis explains. Tries to keep his voice neutral. It seems like he fails, judging by the way Santos twitches and gets up on her elbows to glower at him. “For Christmas.”
“You going back to Broken Dick Nebraska?”
“Broken Bow,” Dennis corrects, more to be contrarian than because he actually thinks Santos misspoke. And maybe with some misguided sense of home town pride. “And yeah. I am.”

Summary
Dennis Whitaker is standing on his doorstep, huddled in Robby’s own dark blue ski-jacket, burdened by two reusable grocery bags. They’ve got cows on them. Which is odd to focus on, but his addled brain just snatches onto that detail and refuses to let go.
“Oh, man,” Dennis blurts, staring up at him. “You look awful.”
“Nice to see you too,” Michael rasps out.

Summary
“Hey, Michael?” Dennis calls over his shoulder, shutting the dishwasher.
“Mm?” Michael hums into his newspaper. His hair is still sleep-mussed, he’s wearing his reading glasses and he’s got a bathrobe and slippers on and Dennis’ chest sort of hurts looking at him. So he quickly turns back to the sink to start cleaning the pan he used to make them breakfast.
“Do you have a KitchenAid?”

Summary
Dennis takes a deep breath, then finally picks up the call. “Hey, ma.”
“Hi, duck.” His mother’s voice washes over him and he feels an embarrassing heat rushing up the back of his eyeballs. He hasn’t heard her voice in months. Hadn’t realised how badly he had missed it. Dennis has to swallow around a lump in his throat before he can speak.
“Hi. I- is something wrong?”
“No - well,” she trails off, then goes on, hesitant. “Susan Bradshaw told me there was a shooting in Pittsburgh?”
