Summary
It was Riddle’s own fault for even considering stepping through the Octavinelle mirror. What would he have even said to Azul? He could have made some sort of excuse, something about a task the headmage had given them at the last housewarden meeting, but that would imply that Riddle needed Azul’s help for such a task.
(Not only was the thought of being incapable of handling an assignment on his own distasteful, Azul would immediately see right through such a flimsy excuse, even if he pretended otherwise.)
