Summary
I eye my next target: A mook with her back to me, distracted by Reach. Easy pickings! I move to stay in her blind spot, and just as I’m about to ready my swing, she dodges to the left. Damn, she’s fast! Reach is in my line of sight now.
There’s a bright flash and a splash of plasma, and heat pierces through me. I realize I’m looking down the barrel of Reach’s gun, and his face shifts to that of horror.
We share a dreadful moment of looking into each other’s eyes as what just happened sinks in. The corners of my vision darken, and the world behind Reach seems to warp.What’s the biggest threat to one of the greatest fighters on this side of the Wall? The other greatest fighter on this side of the Wall.

Summary
They begin to walk, Rolf in front and Reach tailing behind. Warren’s head throbs. It clutches his aching stomach and sucks in a pained breath. It has the impulse to bite, so it sticks the first knuckle of his index finger in his mouth and bites down. That seems to ease… something. It bites harder before snapping out of it. Inspecting the finger for damage reveals deep impressions of teeth left on it. It hugs his torso and rubs his arms instead. Warren would be upset if it harmed him.
Something clicks in its mind, and a lump forms in his throat. It speaks softly, “I said I would look after your body, Warren, but… I… I… We need to get back to the lab. Quickly. I do not know if I am able to adequately take care of you.”Reach was placed in a body that was already poorly cared for. How is it supposed to know its warning signals feel like?

Summary
“Hi, baby!” Veronica coos and holds her arm out.
Excalibur takes that as an invitation to launch himself onto the bed. Reach takes a paw directly to the hip joint. Ow?! It involuntarily makes a pained noise.
Tempest didn’t fare much better. As Excalibur lies down on top of them, he wheezes out a groan as the dog’s elbow digs into his stomach.
“It seems I am lucky that I merely have a dog butt in my face,” Veronica says, slightly muffled by Excalibur’s tail. She lets out a wheezy laugh.
Excalibur sets his head down and looks pleased with his sleeping arrangement. Tempest lets out an amused puff of air. “Everyone knows you can’t move an animal that has chosen you. Looks like you’re gonna have to sleep with us, Reachy! An Excalibur-enforced sleepover!”Tempest and Veronica coax Reach into getting closer with them.

Summary
Reach feels like it is going to explode. It has so many feelings it has never felt before, and it doesn’t care to analyze them in this moment. It just wants to enjoy them.
It has a burning question it wants confirmation for, though. For the sake of its social analysis. “Are we… friends?”
