Wei Wuxian would have spat out his wine, if he hadn’t thrown it out of the window to hide it.
“Huaisang-xiong— “
“It’s perfect! Easy, quick, you two should have no problem with it — just get as close as possible to kissing, the first one to back away loses!” Nie Huaisang claps his hands together, looking at Wei Wuxian, who is looking at Lan Wangji, whose ears are steadily turning an (objectively) attractive shade of plum-pink.
Wei Wuxian only intended to play cut-sleeve chicken with Lan Wangji once, but he won't complain if Lan Wangji wants to keep the game going.

“Would it be alright if I just worked here for tonight?” Lan Zhan makes an aborted noise that, if someone was being generous, could be called a cough. Wei Ying shifts his focus back to the paper below him and continues, “I don’t have to, I just thought it might be easier since I’ve already got all my stuff here, and I just need a little bit of light and I’ll be gone before you know it! But it’s fine if not, really I just—”
“You may stay,” Lan Zhan cuts him off with more confidence than he feels. He doesn’t know why it feels like this is crossing some line into uncharted waters, but the air is heavy with it. He turns back to the mirror before he can see Wei Ying’s reaction.
There’s a beat of silence in which Lan Zhan can hear the rushing of blood in his ears before Wei Ying breathes, “Thanks.”
(Or: Lan Zhan and Wei Ying slowly move in together. Without knowing.)

Lan Zhan lunged at him with startling speed, drawing his sword from its hilt. Letting out a string of bubbly laughter, Wei Ying didn’t even notice when his footing slipped from the roof.
But just as Wei Ying braced for impact, Lan Zhan caught him—straddling him, their faces mere inches apart.
That’s when his golden eyes widen in an animalistic fashion as he catches a whiff of a scent so lethal, the very same time the realisation hits Wei Ying.

Like a wave crashing over him, Wei Ying feels himself being pulled right under.

The way it nudges at Lan Zhan’s cheek almost curiously or flicks his palm in the same way his rabbits lick him when he brings them dinner.
It’s playful, cheeky, and reminds him of Wei Ying.
