Summary
Whenever Eddie pictured Buck in his mind’s eye, it was a snapshot of a time they’d gone to the beach all together, sometime before the tsunami had ruined that for everyone. Eddie was in the passenger seat of Buck’s jeep. Chris was in the back. Buck was driving, and the sunlight was setting his curls on fire, and he was laughing at something Chris had said. He was in an LAFD tank top that Eddie hadn’t seen since that day. Eddie’s phone had been tucked away in the beach bag, or else he would have snapped a picture to hang next to the others on his fridge. Buck, looking so much like himself in those days, before the added weight of everything that had happened since.
----
Buck and Eddie are just beginning to get back into the rhythm of their lives when a call goes disastrously wrong. While Buck's life hangs in the balance, both of them do some reflecting.
Set sometime after Season 8, but for the purposes of this fic I'm not following Season 9 very closely.

Summary
JJ can’t stop staring and as he stares, the words come easy. Like floating. Or surfing. Or falling in love.
“So, this is stupid,” he starts. “But. You remember that time when I showed up to the Chateau and basically fell off my bike?”
“I remember.” John B traces the bone of JJ’s wrist with his finger. “Scared the shit outta me.”
“Yeah, sorry, I guess?” JJ tries and John B snorts at him. “Well, you picked me off the ground and once you realized I really couldn’t walk straight, you kinda put your arm around me? You helped me inside, kept asking what happened. I couldn’t even answer ‘cause the only thing running through my head was ‘I didn’t know, I didn’t know.’”
John B stops moving. “Know what?”
There are Kooks and Tourons and Pogues on Kildare, and then there’s something worse. Maybanks.
*a shamelessly JJ centric story.

Summary
Buck is about to drop it, but he notices that Eddie’s fingers are turning white where they’re squeezing each other. And Buck thinks, something’s about to get punched.
“You sure you’re not mad about something else?”
“Not mad.”
“’Cause… Chim kind of thought you might bring me home. Keep an eye on me while I recover.”
“No,” Eddie answers swiftly, “I was never going to do that.”
-OR-
Buck gets struck by lightning, and Eddie doesn't want to look at him. Buck tries not to spiral in a restaurant bathroom, and Eddie doesn't want to leave him. Buck is so certain he's looking for something, and Eddie doesn't want to clue him in... Except he does. He so does. For like seven whole episodes, Buck processes. Eddie pines.
The post-lightning strike Buddie arc I (we?) deserved. This fic covers 6x11 through 6x18 with altered/extended or added scenes in each episode. Assume that any canon that isn't referenced stays exactly the same.

Summary
The year by the old calendar is 2025.
Home is gone. Home is a failed rescue mission and an echo of a memory. Home is a lost boy living in a wooden house by the sea.
But first, there was a promise. Christopher, when it's safe, I'll take you back to your father. Buck had all but given up on keeping it after the world had died and everyone in it. But just as some oaths refuse to be forgotten, so the same can be said about the endurance of love.

They gave me the option to transfer you.
I said yes.
--
It felt like a betrayal, the lawsuit - and Bobby didn't want to give Buck the chance to hurt any of them again. Not on the job, not face to face, not at all. So when he's asked if they want the kid back, it's easy to spit out the answer.A refusal.
But when Buck finds his way to the 217, he gets a little bit of time to learn if he really wants to be a firefighter. Or if he really just wanted to go home.

Summary
Buck’s taking him to therapy, where he knows Eddie’s therapist’s name and Eddie’s entire history with him; Buck, who let himself into Eddie’s house with food from Eddie’s favorite coffee shop with coffee crafted perfectly for Eddie’s tastes; Buck, who apparently has a book on Eddie’s coffee table with so many dog-eared pages it’s like any interruption at Eddie’s house is worth putting it down.
Buck, who touches him with a devotion as palpable as all the little pieces of himself scattered throughout Eddie's home.
Eddie thinks he might have solved his own question, but he’s afraid to look at the answer too closely—because he’s fairly certain his best friend is in love with him, and Eddie can’t remember a single thing about him.
Or, the one where Eddie wakes up from the shooting only to think he was hurt in a certain 7.1 earthquake years prior and learns to appreciate the life he's created for himself since then.

Summary
“I don’t know what you’re talking about, Bobby,” Buck bites out. “He took three months off. Saw a physical therapist. Did a few sessions with Frank. Clearly, he’s doing great.”
Bobby chews his lip. “If you’re sure,” he says finally. “He just looked a little off at that car crash, is all.”
“I would have noticed,” Buck insists. “It’s Eddie. I would’ve noticed.”
Or, healing doesn't happen in tandem
