His face red from crying, but a loud strike of thunder interrupted him. Nico yelped and immediately jumped into Will’s arms, burying his face into the crook of his neck.
Will was frozen in shock, still as a statue. The small logical part of his mind screamed at him to hug back, so he did. Delicately brushing his hands over Nico’s back and drawing shapes as he shook into him. His shirt was definitely soaked with tears and snot alike, but he didn’t care in the slightest.

It wasn't embarrassment or fear of rejection that stopped him now, it was uncertainty. The kind of uncertainty he hadn't felt with Will in so long that he forgot how to deal with it.
