    Stray jumped from the building and landed in a roll the way Catwoman had taught him before bounding back up to his feet and running. He heard Robin cursing behind him and let out a laugh, loud on purpose.
    “Give it back, Stray!” Robin shouted as he chased Stray over the rooftops.
    “Finder’s keepers!” Stray called over his shoulder, still laughing.
    “Pickpocketing is not finder’s keepers!” Robin argued.
    Stray jumped up on top of an AC unit and twisted to face Robin, holding his hands up. Robin stopped unexpectedly, his balance teetering for a second before he looked up at Stray, scowling. Stray raised his prize, something he’d nicked from Robin’s pocket without really looking at it first. He’d just taken it to annoy the other boy, wanting his attention more than anything. He squinted, staring at it. “Oh my god,” Stray said laughing as he flipped open the first page of the book. “It is a truth universally acknowledged, that a single man in possession of a good fortune, must be in want of a wife.” Tim stared, dumbfounded as he giggled a little. “What is this?”

    And then the window behind him slams open.

    Jason takes a deep, pained breath. “...I want it back, Red.”

    “I want a chance at us back,” He clarifies quietly, before adding, “I’m sorry.”

    Tim’s mouth goes dry. He can hear his heartbeat.

    “I’ve been moving on.” He croaks.

    Jason’s green eyes pierce into him. “Please don’t.”

    It’s so unfair.

    “When you…” Tim tries. He lets context fill what he can’t say, gesturing to the scar on his chest before continuing, “It was all I had left that I hadn’t committed to Robin, the only thing I was holding onto that was silly and frivolous.”

    Tim’s spiraling, repeating the phrases that fed his empty soul sparingly in his darkest moments, “It only weakened me. Now I’m focused on being the perfect soldier you always hated the idea of. I’ve been more focused with a higher rate of achievement and—”

    Jason’s in his space, pushing up against him in seconds. The end of his tail smacks into Tim’s, prompting the latter to shiver out of his mental descent.

    “You’ll never be a perfect soldier.” Jason hisses, “I won’t let you.”

    AKA: A new criminal turns Tim into a mermaid and Jason comes to the rescue (after years of rejection and skinning Tim's soulmark off)

    "I don't understand." Tim shook his head. "I stole from you. I'm a thief. And you're being - nice."

    "Tim," Dick leaned against the doorframe, balancing his bounty of snacks, "I've seen a lot of thieves in Gotham. You are not one of them. Besides, you're kind of like our neighbor. Considering this us being neighborly. Now," he shifted some of the junk food before there was a small avalanche, "come help me carry this and maybe we can get out there before Jason turns this whole floor into a fort."

    OR,

    The boys find an intruder in Wayne Manor in the middle of the night and take it upon themselves to confront the "criminal". Of course that would end in a sleepover.
