Her hazel eyes raked across his face with a deliberate slowness, like she was memorizing something she’d forgotten. Curls of rich brown hair framed her face, wild and damp from the cold, and there were light freckles scattered across her cheeks, made more noticeable by the flush climbing her neck. Her chest rose and fell in quick, sharp breaths, pressing softly against his with each exhale.
He gave a slow, deliberate smile. “Regulus Black.”
It was like a switch had been flipped.
She froze.
Paled.
“But you’re supposed to be dead.”
