Summary
In the wake of the second wizarding war, the Ministry of Magic enacts a marriage law to help with the repopulation efforts. To everyone's surprise, the reclusive war-heroine Hermione Granger is matched with Draco Malfoy, an ex-death eater recently released from Azkaban.
Bound to a legally-mandated timeline—cohabitation, consummation, conception—every intimate milestone of their relationship is dictated by the Ministry. Will they find a way out of this nightmarish arrangement? Will they somehow make it work even despite their history? Or will the past tear everything apart before they get the chance?
The war left everyone scarred, but some scars are less visible than others.
Or:
Hermione is traumatized and barely holding it together. Draco is depressed and drowning himself in guilt. Neither of them are stable enough for this, but neither of them have a choice.
A slow-burn Dramione marriage law fic with heavy angst, secrecy, and trauma, but also trust, recovery, and redemption.

Summary
This is an AU picking up between the failed broadcast show and the summary film, exploring what happened to the crew as they struggled to survive on the edge of the black.
When Dr. Simon Tam, in a fit of misguided chivalry, convinces a former academy colleague—Lena Petrova, a brilliant woman on the run from a shadowed past—to seek refuge on Serenity, he unwittingly brings a catalyst aboard.
Her presence shatters the fragile peace of the crew, but none more so than Jayne Cobb. Their volatile relationship is a clash of intellect and instinct, a war of words and wills that threatens to tear the ship apart from the inside.
This is a story that will cover the events of the movie and touch on some of the storylines from the comics, all while exploring the messy, complicated business of loving someone in the face of oblivion.
While we wait for the official story, consider this one version of what happened in the black.

Summary
The quickest way to burn a narrative is to set it on fire yourself.
After a very public betrayal, Hermione Granger finds herself recast as cold, frigid, and conveniently unlovable.
She refuses the part.
Draco Malfoy is many things, but subtle is not one of them. When he chooses to stand beside her, the whispers turn into spectacle, and spectacle becomes strategy.
They’ll own the narrative.
They’ll play the game.
They will not blink. It’s strictly mutual.
Strictly controlled.
Strictly temporary. -
