Floyd was still quiet, but his arms tightened around him.
“I don’t say it,” Riddle whispered, “because I don’t want to say it wrong. Or say it when I’m scared, or not sure, or trying to be someone I’m not.
I want to say it when I can’t not say it. When it’s real, and it feels like mine.”

It was supposed to be just some silly TikTok trend. A dumb filter who was supposed to tell you your “soulmate's” age. A dumb filter with two rainbow balls, a baby, and a phrase with numbers that get higher each time the baby hits those balls.
It was supposed to be funny, a joke. Those things are not meant to get it right. Hollyberry luckily got someone around their age, in their 20s-30s, great. White Lily wasn't so fortunate. In hers, she got someone in their 40s, but that's okay. It was just a filter, not meant to be serious. I mean, when it was Golden Cheese's turn, the filter literally DISAPPEARED and refused to come back until it was someone else's turn.

Instead, he finds himself in the Taisho Era of Japan, where things are very different. In a completely different era of time in a completely different world, Riddle is forced to learn how to merely exist without dying.
But of course, he's only able to do so after something horrible and irreversible happens because nothing can ever go the easy way for Heartslabyul's Housewarden.

Summary
Riddle’s mother wasn’t a bad person. She was strict, quick to anger, and didn’t always listen to others, but she wasn’t a bad person. She had reasons for what she did. No matter what, in the end, Riddle could understand it.
And if anything…worse than usual happened, then all Riddle had to do was wait. Eventually, everything would go back to normal.
So when she adds a strange addition to the drawing room, Riddle tries his best not to worry. But all his efforts turn out to be for nothing when he sees the finished product.
Because his mother has bought a person, and suddenly nothing is normal ever again.
Riddle’s life spirals down a path of old memories and new realizations as he does whatever he can to try and fix things for his family, and more importantly- the mer his mother has imprisoned.
