Mito breaks off suddenly, sitting bolt upright from where she’d slowly begun to slump towards the table.
“Mito?” Hashirama blinks and stares at his wife who is staring into the distance with a look of glee slowly beginning to dawn across her face.
Mito’s moving in the next second, saké bottle still clutched in one hand as the other sweeps out across the table, sending the cups, papers, and the tea set flying across the room.
Hashirama just raises his hands above his head to keep his saké from spilling and waits her out.
“Oh, it’s perfect,” Mito cackles, a truly disturbing grin splitting open her lovely face.

“I am afraid,” Sarutobi’s voice is solemn but unwavering, “that any and all requests to take over Uzumaki Naruto’s care will be denied. No matter the circumstances or the source.”
There’s a pause, a heavy and cutting sort of silence.
“She is jinchūriki now,” Sarutobi murmurs, one part explanation and one part decree. Sorrowful but unyielding. “The girl’s life is no longer what it once would have been. There will be no adoptions, no fostering, no contact. Uzumaki Naruto is just another orphan and she will live as such. Now, dismissed.”
And that, much to Mikoto’s ire, seems to be that.

Newt Scamander seems to see right through him, and the more Graves feels his casual touches the harder it is to ignore how much he needs it.

Summary
For a prompt at the km:
So Newt is usually a bundle of energy, constantly in motion. He doesn't need to sleep a lot and eats little (which is a constant worry to the Goldstein sisters and Jacob). It usually doesn't faze Newt because he is used to survive on little but ever since childhood he crashes every once in a while and when he crashes he crashes hard. Near comatose for days, little to no energy, nosebleeds and inexplainable bruises. His family never could find out what was wrong with him even after they took him to the best mediwitches and mediwizards around the world. Newt keeps being okay after a few days of rest, so they made sure that Newt would stay with Theseus whenever he starts to show first symptoms (nosebleeds, the odd bruise here and there).
After the movie:
Newt hasn't taken a break in weeks. He doesn't immediately notice that he's due for another crash and when he finally realises either during an auror meeting or maybe during a stake out for poachers, it's far too late to warn anyone. He freaks everyone out by suddenly collapsing like a puppet with cut strings.- Language:

Despite later claims by Porpentina Goldstein, the first thing that Newt Scamander, illegal magizoologist, actually said to Graves was “Oh. I really didn’t think that there were two of those.”
Graves looked around quickly, wand cautiously raised. One of Grindelwald’s ‘silos’ of stored and mostly illegal paraphernalia had turned out to also include an acid-spitting two-legged ostrich-sized lizard, whose spit had dissolved, unfortunately, much of said illegal paraphernalia, a desk, several chairs, and Newt’s clothes. The lizard was asleep, bubbling gently beside the stairs, clutching the virulently pink flower bulb that Newt had thrown at it right before he’d been drenched.
“Where’s the other one?”
“No, no, I meant your coat,” Newt explained brightly.

He has lived all his life trying to hide it, thinking it'll be easier that way, that no one will notice until Newt is almost killed by Grindelwald in New York and Theseus realises hiding his feelings is even more difficult now than it was years ago.

Summary
Theseus knew Newt was innocent. The sweetest, most oblivious little thing anyone would ever encounter. Always distanced from his peers, and far too caught up in his creatures to pay attention to the terrible things around him. Protected by his parents and Theseus himself. Kept locked away from the cruel world.
Newt's innocence had never been a problem, in fact it endeared Newt to him. He was his little one, someone he had to keep safe and ensure no one could spoil his innocence. But now that endearment had turned to something darker, something he shouldn't feel for his little brother, and that innocence became a temptation.

Based on a kinkmeme prompt: After the war Theseus comes back with PTSD, and stays with Newt to recover because we all know Newt is the perfect caretaker.
Whenever Theseus gets nightmares, Newt's there to hug him/sing him back to sleep. When Theseus gets flashbacks, Newt's there to calm him down in soothing voices and hair petting and all that.
(Gen scenario)
Theseus and Newt not being all that close before the war, due to age difference or whatever, but after living with Newt, Theseus becomes protective of his adorable little bro and appreciates his compassionate nature a lot more.(Incest scenario)
After fighting in the war for who knows how long, Theseus develops an infatuation with Newt's warmth and gentleness, and starts displaying possessiveness over his little brother's attention. Whether it's one-sided or if Newt reciprocates is up to you. (Bonus for Theseus being obsessed with Newt's scent, and habitually buries his face in Newt's neck and just breathes in).- Language:

Newt was essentially frog-marched into the director's office, and at this point, felt very put out by the whole affair. He rather thought he had been man-handled enough for the past 24 hours. This was certainly some way to treat a helpful informant.
Then, he saw the man at his desk, and his jaw dropped. “You?”
The director of magical security looked up, already scowling, and recognition flared in his eyes. “You,” he growled.
Newt blinked for a few moments, glanced around, and mindlessly tugged a bit at the magical binds around his wrists. “I’m s-sorry, but is this how you treat everyone who walks through MACUSA’s doors? It seems a bit extreme and unnecessarily aggressive.”

In which Newt gets his latch fixed, so his creatures don't escape, Graves is never Grindelwald, and Newt immediately knows what the problem is (those big, gaping holes in the city were not caused by any of his creatures, thank you very much).

Summary
Aposematism in animals is designed to prevent attack. It doesn't always work, sometimes it's ineffective against some predators, sometimes it isn't. As a primary defence mechanism, Newt is a colourful individual with his blue coat and golden hair. His secondary defences aren't visible however and often are what surprise his opponents the most. Bright creatures tend to be very toxic to predators, but mammals like honey badgers are aggressively defensive. Newt is a Hufflepuff and the emblem of his house suits him well. Signalling theory tells you that Newt warns off predators and opponents with his colours, but when they don't take heed he'll show his claws and fight tooth-and-nail. It's what survivors do.
And Newt Scamander is definitely a survivor.
