Sam nodded, looking at Frodo now with an oddly determined expression. “And just bein’ clear, I’m very happy with my decisions, and that’s the truth.”

Frodo returned his gaze. “My Sam," he said and took Sam’s hand once again.

Pippin suddenly had a weird thought. But no, surely not…

    ~~
Post quest. Merry and Pippin go to visit Frodo and Sam for Frodo’s birthday. They eat food and have some important (and some less important) conversations, and Pippin learns a few things.

"Have you truly come this far, just to 've come this far?"
"Merry, there's nowhere further to go. I've gone as far as I dare."

    _________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
A Lord of the Rings fanfiction that centers around Pippin, Merry, the rest of the Fellowship (Eowyn and Faramir are there too) as they experience the aftermath of Return of the King.

    ___Or___
Merry and Eowyn come up with the 'brilliant' plan to get the gang back together to go on an adventure to try to get their friends to come clean about their various traumas and save them from their minds. Unfortunately, their attempts end with them tangled up in a palace coup, multiple unintentional murders, poisonous rivers, way more information than they wanted, hallucinating trees, an egocentric king, and a truly incredible display of a lack of social skills, not necessarily in that order.

    Summary

Fool of a Took seemed to be the enduring muttered mantra of the Fellowship, at least where Gandalf was concerned. It was entirely possible that the others thought it in their hearts– certainly not his fellow hobbits, but perhaps the Men that were sworn to follow Frodo into fire and flames, the grumbling dwarf, and the strange elf who spoke rarely and blinked even less. Pippin tried not to let it prick his heart: he knew this quest was something far beyond his understanding of the world, knew that truly realizing it would warp his brain in ways that could not be undone, knew that, after all, he was just a simple hobbit who had quite literally stumbled into saving the world. He could quell the pinpricks with those thoughts.

Before Moria, of course. Before knocking the helmet down the well. Before the balrog.

(In which Legolas has a bad time, Pippin has even worse time, and the Fellowship finally gets around to talking about the balrog incident, though not before Legolas and Pippin run into trouble in the woods.)

    Summary

Thorin Oakenshield is the crown prince of one of the strongest kingdoms in Middle-earth, but over the last year, the kingdom has struggled to maintain its position among the ruling powers of Middle-earth. Erebor was held under vicious siege by the dragon Smaug, who terrorised the land and wiped out the nearby human settlement of Dale. The hardship forces Erebor into a difficult position, creating no other choice but for King Thror to seek alliances with other kingdoms and races through the bonds of marriage. Will Thorin see this as his duty to his kingdom, or take another path entirely?
