“I don’t know why I’m still acting like this.” Minho leaned back, tipped his head against the bathroom sink and winced at the thud. His knees throbbed, dull and distant.
“That’s okay.” Chan’s words were too kind, too soft. “There’s no rush.”
But there was. Minho wanted to get over it, was trying to, but he couldn’t change everything he’d done to bring him to this point. Now, he was stuck with the consequences. Now, Chan was stuck with him acting like this. “I should’ve left sooner,” he said towards the floor.
“You didn’t know, baby.”
“I should’ve.” It was sharp, sharper than he meant. He sighed. “Should’ve figured it out.”

Summary
Minho ran a hand over the dog- over Berry’s ear. “She just wanted to say hi,” he said, watching her through the new crack in his glasses. “Right?”
“Well, she should say it nicely,” the stranger said with a pout. Then, softening, “Again, I’m really sorry. She’s usually better at listening, just not used to the birds yet.” Guilt still shone in his eyes, eased with a smile. “Can I get your name, at least? I’m Chan.”
Minho ran another hand over Berry’s ear. The man’s words did explain why Minho hadn’t seen him before; yet implied newness, an intent to familiarize. Minho couldn’t help his intrigue. Strangely, he didn’t mind that it had come at the expense of a sore tailbone or fractured glasses.
He offered a small smile in response. “Minho.”

“Jisungie keep you up?” Changbin grinned, and the harsh fluorescents overhead caught in the corners of his mouth. “Does he kick?”
Minho glanced up, and his glare must’ve been harsher than he meant it; Changbin’s joking smile faltered in a blink. Minho softened his gaze with a shrug. “Couldn’t sleep,” he lied, and the rumble of his voice through his head hurt.
This migraine was a bit worse than his usual, but he could—he would—get through the day. If that meant lying to the others, then so be it. When the day was done, he could take some painkillers and sleep the rest of it off. Until then, he would be fine.
Changbin tilted his head. “You look like Channie-hyung,” he said, thoughtful. “Doesn’t suit you.”

Summary
“All you ever do is work on this shit,” Tommy said, grabbing at the piece of paper. He held it up close to his face, squinting at the geometric shapes scrawled in the margins. “The hell even is this?”
“It’s an important document-” Tubbo moved for the page, and Tommy whipped it away with a teasing laugh. “Tommy-”
Tommy hopped off the desk, still holding the paper up high and out of Tubbo’s reach. “Take a break, would you?” he said, and he couldn’t help how sincerity leaked into his voice at the edges, how worry lingered in the back of his throat.
In response, a frown tucked into the corners of Tubbo’s mouth, a tight and sullen little thing that made him look like a displeased pigeon. Tommy pushed, and Tubbo sat there without so much as a twitch.

“Listen, Wilbur.” Quackity’s voice was firm. “Whatever you’re planning- I’m not just going to stand here and play your little games.”
“I’m not playing any games,” Wilbur said, and there was a strange sense of grandeur in his voice, one that Wilbur couldn’t remember actually feeling in a while. “I found a bench, and I sat on it. Unless you’ve outlawed loitering, I’m perfectly within my rights.”
He didn’t mention how long he’d been there on the bench, that he didn’t quite remember when he’d sat on it or how he’d gotten there. He didn’t mention how he hadn’t slept in a while, his eyelids stiff with sleeplessness and vision hazy at the edges.
Wilbur didn’t know how or why he’d turned up at the edge of Las Nevadas, but he pretended he did.

Summary
The royal family of Antarctic empire isn’t exactly close.
Emperor Philza is always occupied; Tommy hasn’t seen Techno in months, and even if Wilbur is here, their relationship can be described to be strained at best.
The royal family doesn’t need to be close, however, it only needs to be balanced, like the pillars holding the country above their heads – as long as they are strong and steady, the Empire will be too. It’s the principle that held Tommy’s back straight and his shoulders broad through the years of hardships and trials of errors; through yet another formal meeting where his father’s gaze would look past him and where his brother’s words would be filled with poison that makes the deepest parts of his soul ache.
At that time, Tommy couldn't know that his family would find a replacement for him in the face of a commoner boy named Ranboo.

The cashier looks at them, and it's more a drive-in type thing, a small shop located next to the shore, glancing at where Tommy's leaning against the wall, phone propped up in his hands. “Does your brother want anything?”
Wilbur blinks, and the first thing he does is glance to Tommy, who looks over at him in a similar manner; he shakes himself out of it.
Wilbur looks like he was caught off-guard, a placating smile on his face, eyes gleaming. “Ah, miss, we're not brothers.”
Three times Wilbur denied Tommy and him were brothers, and the two times he didn't.
