“You’re a real prick, you know that,” Sonny pushed past him into the room.
“Yeah, but you like it,” Barba said, locking the door behind him.
“Shut up.” Sonny pushed him up against the door, kissing him roughly, all the pent up tension from the earlier meeting manifesting itself in the press of lips and the scrape of teeth. Rafael met his intensity, pushing him back towards his office, not wanting to be on full display to the neighborhood, but never breaking contact.
“I thought we said we were never doing this again,” Sonny managed to pant out once his ass was against Barba’s desk.
“That was stupid of us,” Rafael said, starting to make quick work of the buttons on Sonny’s shirt.

Sonny tilted his head, looking him over carefully. “Look, why don’t we hand this off to another ADA? No one will think anything of it.”
Rafael’s gaze sharpened. “What does that mean?”
“C’mon, Raf, you know what it means.”
“That you think I can’t objectively do my job. That I can’t prosecute a case without my personal feelings getting in the way. I think you’re confusing me with yourself.” He dropped his feet to the floor, standing to pace.
Sonny frowned, standing as well, just so he could turn to face him where he was now in the center of the room. He was used to Rafael deflecting; he wasn’t going to let it work this time. “Don’t do that. I’m just trying to—”
“Sonny, if you say protect me, I swear to god…”
AKA the sequel to Quiet Unrest and it's Rafael's turn to let a case get personal.
