She thought back to that evening when he walked into her life, sat at her table, and drew a beautiful rendition of her face. She thought of that very first and only dance she'd enjoyed in her life, of Sonny's gentle guidance and light conversation, of how flawless they'd been as they danced like they'd done it so many times. She reflected on that smile, those sparkling eyes, that promise to talk to her, to see her again.
She realized she'd been holding back that wonderful blooming feeling then. And she'd held it back all this time.
This night was sparkling, like those nights when she felt her cheeks heat up all the way home.
This night was flawless, like those nights she fantasized that beautiful first dance.
And she was never letting it go.
