“Just you, Tantei-kun. This other guy I know is pretty annoying” KID answers, and Shinichi glances up and notices KID's smile, it's nice to see, it doesn't look like that grin he puts on during his heists, maybe it's genuine. “Am I your favourite thief?”
“No” Shinichi answers immediately with no hesitation, he doesn't want to give KID the reactions he wants, not in a million years.

What starts out as the perfect deal quickly gets complicated, when Jungkook struggles to separate his feelings for real Jimin and the incubus who looks just like Jimin.

Jake refuses to be buried.
He flies like he has nothing left to lose (he doesn’t), a one man army (he is), leaving everyone else in the dust (so they don’t leave him). Admiral Kazansky claps him on the shoulder, says he expects great things from him, and Jake’s smile is feral as the rest of his flight school cohort looks on in disbelief.
Hangman, they all say, like Jake’s entire personality was a long con, and he ranks first in class.
Rooster doesn’t look at all.

Or in this case, a perfectly good chance to spend some time with his friends. “Most of us flew that mission. We were all trained to. We’re in this together. Only reason Bob’s not coming is because his mom would kill him if he didn’t come home for his grandma’s birthday.”
Bradley runs his tongue along the inside of his cheek, but eventually can’t stop himself from asking— “What about Hangman?”

The moment feels unreal with the golden light pouring over piano tiles long forgotten in his childhood, the man at his side that feels close enough to reach but not quite hold, the way that time stretches like molasses, sweet yet torturously slow and thick.

Pete almost doesn’t understand what he means but his eyes flicker down to Seresin’s chest, to the tiny head of blond hair and suddenly he realizes what he’s looking at. Because even if he couldn’t recognize his son by his haircut – plus/minus thirty years, mind you – the flight suit he’s currently drowning in and the familiar helmet abandoned by Seresin’s feet are dead giveaways for who the kid in his arms is.
“Baby Goose?” Pete mutters faintly just as the world turns back.
