When he was a kid, it felt like the whole world was on his shoulders. But with Will, he would take some of that weight for himself, and laugh sweetly about how Mike’s back must hurt all the time. Now the weight of the world was actually on their shoulders, and Will doesn't laugh about it anymore."

“We need to get out of here!” Beach said to Anura, his volume rising with his panic.
“But how? This thing is blocking the way!” Anura exclaimed, gesturing to the stone-scavenger. Beach turned to look at it, hoping to look and find a way around it, but when he turned, he saw its limb heading toward them again. This time, however, there wasn’t enough time to move. Not even enough time to shove Anura out of the way. Instinctively, he wrapped his wings around Anura, squeezing his eyes shut as he prepared himself. He was about to die. He would be splattered on the wall of the cave with Anura. No. I can’t. I promised Harpy.
“Please, stop!” Beach yelled weakly, the only thing he could think to do. There was nothing else he could do. He held Anura tighter, feeling her own wings wrap tightly around him in return. This was it. The end of his journey.It turns out he wasn’t the hero.

After everything Hawkins has been through, the Party finally gets a night with no monsters, no sirens, and no world-ending disasters.
For Mike Wheeler, it also comes with whiskey, Truth or Dare, and the sudden realization that something is very wrong with him.
Because for some reason, he can’t stop watching Will.
He can’t stop reacting to Will.
And he definitely can’t stop feeling whatever the hell this is.It’s not a problem for drunk Mike.
It’s a problem for sober Mike.
If only Mike knew, some things don’t disappear when the alcohol wears off. They were always there.

OR
Mike Wheeler gets drunk, plays Truth or Dare, and accidentally realizes he’s in love with his best friend.
Unfortunately for Mike, sobriety does not fix this problem.Double unfortunately for Mike, this is the start of a very long, very gay emotional spiral.
