Modern day AU. Siegfried owns a veterinary practice and is in need of a receptionist. Audrey needs a new start in life.
This is my first story for this fandom. I have to confess it has sort of run away with me, and it might turn into a long one. Slow burn, and lots of diversions, probably.
EDIT: all of the above applies. It has most definitely run away with me, and it will be a long one with a ton of diversions along the way.

Summary
Inspired by a wonderful fic by WednesdayGilfillian (link in notes), in which Shelagh goes to Scotland after her tb treatment, instead of returning to Poplar straight away. I love the idea of Shelagh finding herself, growing stronger, before finding a new life with Patrick. I basically took that idea and worked out my own story around it.
Safe to say this is fairly AU. I messed with timelines, as well, to make it work for me. In short: another way for Patrick and Shelagh to fall in love, get engaged, married, etc.
