It’s not like spending the day together could somehow change the game completely...
(OR: Akira accidentally speedruns Akechi’s entire confidant track on the day they meet, and opens up some new options in the process.)

it’s like everything you could ever want in a shuake oneshot like genuinely it has it all. It has the confidants, it has the flirting, the competition, and then it has the mementos the reaper mention which ive literally never seen any fic mention and was so funny I loved it so much!!!! I’ve had so many times that the reaper has caught me off guard and it makes it not only a fun reference but a great way to cut to the next scene and progress. Something this one shot is amazing at, it really is the more plot than smut sort of smut oneshot and that’s pinnacle of peak fanfic for me honestly! it’s so good the smut is “simple” but not really when there’s so much buildup that it’s truly not even trying to be smut for the sake of it it really just feels like a beautiful conclusion and god the comparisons? the dialogue itself is addictively in character but the constant metaphors, comparisons, and so forth are incredible. The whole fanfic truly feels like a “if only we had only met a few weeks earlier, we happened to know more, and were just a little bit more persistent” instead of “if only we had only met a few years earlier” and it flows so wonderfully it’s so easy to get so a social and invested into it! The au itself showcases and highlights the tragedy of Goro Akechi’s character perfectly and the understanding and characterization of Joker here in all aspects is fantastic. If there’s any fanfic that I want to reread when going through my bookmarks it should be this one because it gives you everything all at once in a beautiful cacophony of sound that ends up in a harmony with how everything is developed and given time to breath all while happening so fast. It really adds to the feeling of it being this insane day for them both where the layers of a flower are peeled until there’s nothing more left to give and they (more specifically Akechi) breaks and it’s so satisfying. It captures everything the confidants do and adds so much with the fanfic’s characterization, it’s comparisons and metaphors, it’s highlighting of the source material in a way that feels almost commemorative in nature of akechi and joker’s dynamic, and it’s progression itself that feels so satisfying. THIS is the oneshot for a quick commemoration that’s quick nature spills seamlessly into what it’s attempting to do and furthers the intimacy and the eventual break. THIS is the oneshot to read for when that smut needs to be DESERVED because it by far is built up and treated as a beautiful conclusion of intimacy and understanding just like how smut should be. 10/10 will read again we joining this team vigilante group or something oh myyyy god it’s so good fuckkkbb
edit: and I even forgot to mention how the progression of these confidants feels similar to the manga’s adaptation where it has to cram them into one manga, while I don’t hate the manga for it because it feels cute it just in nature feels similar to that circumstance with the manga and propels it taking it and using it as a tool to enhance the storytelling instead of just to cram it into a specific amount of time

Summary
Nimble fingers carefully map out every blemish they reach with such delicacy and care that it almost makes Goro squirm; there’s a rebuttal on his tongue, boiling hot and ready to burst, but Akira beats Goro to the punch before the brunet can open his mouth.
“You’re special to me. More than you most likely think— ” Akira mumbles, pressing one final kiss to the back of Goro’s hand. Gazing at Goro through thick eyelashes, his next words are mumbled against rough skin. “So, I want to take my time with you. Savor every last drop.”
There’s a silent question that rests within onyx eyes: Is that alright?
