The peak of scientific innovation and scholarly pursuits, as well as the setting of the first forty chapters of Hollow Sword Path, led by Kurosaki Ichigo’s shitty master who also happened to be called Urahara Kisuke? The very same shitty master who was Ichigo’s first human kill and inarguably one of the most prominent reasons for his fall into darkness?
Kisuke’s mind whirred, recalling the electronic voice’s claim that this was his afterlife; he’d recognized that he’d transmigrated within the first moments after his return to consciousness, but into Hollow Sword Path, of all the medias?
And considering the name coincidence… Was he Urahara Kisuke, kid punter and puppy kicker? Whatever higher beings there were probably weren’t that cruel, right?
“Urahara-san? Has your memory been impaired?” the doctor—Unohana Retsu, peak lord of Qian Cao Peak and head of Cang Qiong Sect’s medical division, Kisuke rapidly realized—asked, a line appearing between her furrowed brows.

He thrusts the sword forward again, hilt-first. At this angle, it would only take such a simple movement from Blade to plunge it through his chest. "If you want it discarded so badly, do it yourself." Prove it, he manages not to say. Prove that's what you really think, because I don't believe you.
This time, Blade takes it, even if only to sheathe it immediately. He squeezes Dan Heng's hand when they make contact, in an attempt at reassurance.
"It's okay," He says, strangely tranquil. "You shouldn't have to care so much."
"It's not my choice," Dan Heng replies. "But I would choose it."
"…I cannot stop you."
"No."

But now that I have you"- he finally lets his grip on Blade's hand tighten- "I miss you in a way I can't even begin to explain. I miss an imagined world where I wasn't ignorant enough to know how to move on." He lets his free hand curl lightly over Blade's shoulder, with just the right timing that he'll never know if it's the touch or his words that made Blade flinch again in response. "Do you feel the same? Do you regret letting me get away from you?"
Blade's response is soft, and not at all gentle. "Of course not. You haunt me."
In which Dan Heng pokes the proverbial hornets' nest, and finds proverbial hornets.

For a long time- a minute, perhaps, though that ought not to be a long time by either of their standards- Dan Heng does not speak. His gaze searches the horizon. Blade does not know what for. Perhaps, for a Nameless, there is meaning in the searching itself.
When he finds his words, they are painstakingly direct. Blade turns at the sound of his voice, but Dan Heng remains staring into the distance as he speaks. "I wish… we had learned sooner that we didn't have to be enemies."
I feel the same, Blade cannot say. "There was never-"
"I know," Dan Heng says, too quickly. His voice softens again, as if he'd caught himself off-guard, too. "I just wish we had, at the very least, been afforded the opportunity."

Silver Wolf takes a sip of her slushie, watching cherry flavored liquid rise and fall within the straw. Then a far more reluctant bite of the meh burger she got at the slushie place, but a deal is a deal, to be honored or risk losing access to her games etc etc. She glances at the apple she got for basically the same reason, but that’s for later. Then she goes back to skimming the feed from Star Rail FEST on her phone, because it’s kinda being productive. (It’s the greatest spot for stuff to tease Stelle about later she’s seen in her life.)
More importantly, it’s distracting enough that she won’t look up by accident. She took enough psychic damage last time she did that, thanks.Or, "Silver Wolf, aroace queen trapped on all angles by people in gay situationships", as my friend put it. Silver Wolf has not figured this out yet.

This is, undoubtedly, a foolish decision.
The boys certainly felt inclined to tell her so, once they all woke up after spending hours out cold from Reiju’s sedatives. But they tellingly did not attempt to wrest control of the stolen ship, to steer them back to Germa’s main fleet, and that feels like unspoken support.
So. Foolish. But perhaps less foolish than staying with their father, with undergoing over a decade of experiments they already know the results of, with being his willing automatons when they now know, they know there are other sources of strength in this world. When they’ve now witnessed firsthand how their family’s ‘failure’ went and made himself strong.
Reiju intends to do the same.

If he were still in the habit of keeping a detailed medical logbook, Crocus would have started this past week’s entries with the line: I seem to have lost my little-remaining sanity.
In a span of six days, he’s gone from being alone with Laboon and his lighthouse duties, to a full inundation of teenagers and children claiming to be mentally adults (with hardly a lick of maturity or good manners to be seen), one functioning vessel beside the ramshackle remnants of what essentially amounted to a raft of scrap metal and sailcloth (which of course fell to pieces the moment they came screaming down the long slope of Reverse Mountain), and his own awakened memories of a future which has not yet come to pass, and now likely won’t, thanks to meddling from his aforementioned ‘guests’.
It’s the most entertainment he’s had in years.

They’re almost to the television station for the debate when Blade falters in his steps and stumbles.
“Blade?” Dan Heng asks, reaching his hands out to stabilize Blade but flinching back at the sight of glowing red eyes. “What’s going…”
All around them, random citizens of Planarcadia twist and scream and cackle, their limbs turning corpse gray and neon pink as grotesque grins spread across their faces. Dan Heng no longer needs to finish asking his question; he can see, plainly in front of him, that the debate has been a ruse all along.

In order to calm Blade down from his episodes of mara and no longer willing to kill him, Dan Heng must finally acknowledge another piece of the puzzle that makes up his and Blade’s relationship. Takes place during the black screen scene in 4.2.

In a flash, Stelle grabbed Dan Heng’s shoulders in a vice grip, her eyes twitching uncontrollably as she started pushing him toward the exit of the Express. “You need to go.”
