“My mama is Cangse Sanren and my baba is Wei Changze,” Wei Ying told him, and recognition registered in Nie Mingjue’s eyes.
“Wei Ying,” Nie Mingjue said, sounding a bit regretful, “Your parents aren’t coming back.”

Summary
Before Wei Wuxian can say he will join Jiang Cheng and attend the Wen indoctrination, a letter describing the burning of the Cloud Recesses reaches Lotus Pier.
Realizing the danger to the Jiang sect, he decides to stay behind to help with the defenses and keep his sect safe. While he agonizes over the fate of the disciples sent as little more than hostages, he upgrades the wards of the Jiang sect to stand against the inevitable Wen army.
Lotus Pier will survive, and Wei Wuxian changes his own fate and the fate of the Sunshot Campaign.

Summary
It was an extreme, a desperate decision fueled by anger towards the entire cultivation world, a grief deeper than the deepest trenches in the ocean. The realization that Lan Wangji would now have to continue on living a second time without his beloved, where Wei Wuxian had died once again. Where, once more, his love had been taken from him by cruel, unrighteous men who thought they knew better, that they were doing the world a justice.
Lan Qiren had seen the state that his nephew had been in after Wei Wuxian’s first death, what Lan Wangji had done in his grief then, and he feared what Lan Wangji would do to himself if he was left alone with this repeated grief.

Instead, the place was occupied by a slightly moss-covered but still the most beautiful jade statue the cultivator (Wei Wuxian) had ever seen. The jade had been masterfully chiseled into a beautiful ethereal man, sitting with perfect posture, his back straight, his head slightly bowed. The finely detailed strands of his hair flowed softly in a breeze, his eyes partially closed. The robes were detailed, his hands hovering over a guqin made out of black jade, fingertips in the middle of plucking the strings. Whoever made the statue had a good eye for details, the forehead ribbon caught in a soft breeze, tangling with the hair, the sleeves billowing softly with the caught air of the breeze the artist had imagined. It looked like the man had gone about his day and was captured in the precious stone.

Lan Wangji is known for being a man of few words. The reason for this could be that he is written as a neurodivergently coded character. Like many autistic people, Lan Wangji has difficulty translating his overwhelming feelings into words (love, hate, anger). Processing stimuli and emotions often takes significantly longer for autistic people than for neurotypical people. They therefore have limited linguistic articulation skills.

Summary
This is a meta analysis dealing with Lan Wangji's choice in hobbies. I put forward the thesis that Wei Wuxian is Lan Wangji's gateway to the world. A world to which he had no other access due to his secluded, sheltered youth in Cloud Recess. In addition, Lan Wangji is characterized as an autistic teenager with a single strong special interest, namely music (an obsessive character and pronounced special interests are part of the character profile of Asperger's autism, for example). Only the guest lectures and Wei Wuxian open up new paths for him. As we will see, many of his interests have to do with Wei Wuxian.
