    Summary

Good dogs listen to their Masters. They sit, stay, and play dead. They bare their necks for a collar, sit obediently for a muzzle, lay their heads on familiar laps, and wag their tails appropriately.
Good dogs listen. And good Masters command.

    Pain was a funny thing.

And by funny, what Rudo meant was that it was awful to the point of being a nuisance.

    Summary

Bossing around his party leader, making a mess of him, was always the best way for Chilchuck to relax. Because there was nothing Chilchuck liked more than being respected and in control. But now he needed to continue the scene. He needed to help Laios reach that state of relaxation as well.

Because there was nothing Laios liked more than being treated like one of the beasts he loved.

    Summary

Distantly, a peal of thunder rumbled across the sky. “Yeah, I hear you,” Jacob muttered to no one in particular. “I feel like shit too.”

Behind him, the dock creaked faintly, as if complaining about an additional weight. “Watch out for nails,” Jacob muttered. If the intruder heeded his warning, he couldn’t tell – the characteristic fwip of sandals snapping against heels remained unhindered as their footsteps grew closer. Jacob didn’t bother looking up.

“I’ve always been fond of the rain,” Millard mused, pausing beside Jacob. Ah. So that’s who decided to crash his little pity party. Jacob didn’t have the energy to reply – nor did he really want to – so he kept his eyes on the water. He half-expected Millard to barrel through his silence with a remark about catching a cold. “Do you like the rain, Jacob?” he asked instead. The question sunk into Jacob’s head and dribbled out of his ears.

    “Sorry- huh?”
