It doesn’t register as a break up in Gary’s mind. That would imply that there’s something there to break besides this weird back-and-forth they’ve been wrestling with for the last four months. It’s more of a petty fight in his mind, the same kind that leads them to making out in house party closets.

Summary
As Arthur laid on the concrete floor of the warehouse, he felt the ghost of Paul’s hand on his cheek.
With half-lidded eyes, Arthur turned his head into the brushing of fingertips as best as he could. Warmth spread throughout his body as Paul’s touch faded. Arthur attempted to chase after the apparition, but his body groaned at any movement.
This was it, Arthur was dying.
Muffled voices ricocheted above him. “Stay… us… help!”
“Ch… gone… stop!”
A rattle escaped past Arthur’s lips as the jagged, ruined concrete against his back disappeared. A dizzying lightness washed over Arthur as the world spun. A sharpness of red and speckles of black crossed his vision.

Summary
Something horrible in Dazai's past comes back to haunt him in the form of a brown envelope full of pictures.
He expects to be abandoned and shunned, but for all his precision in foreseeing outcomes, he finds that he is not the best at predicting the emotional reactions of those that care about him.

Slowly, Dazai bends down and picks one of them up in a shaking hand.
Kunikida has never seen him like this.
"I don't understand..." Atsushi is saying, but he stays with Ranpo, Kyouka and Kenji where he is, "What are those pictures? What's going on?"
Dazai is terrifyingly held together and calm and collected, his eyes half-lidded and hollow, when he gathers them up from the floor and straightens, when he moves towards the desk and sets them by tapping them against the top, and then carefully puts them back in the envelope.
The silence that follows after is deafening and unbearably long as Dazai stands there with his back to the room, his head bowed, his eyes hidden by his hair.
"I'm going to kill him," he whispers, so quietly it took Kunikida several seconds to make it out.
In one swift motion, he turns with the envelope in hand and storms out of the office.

Summary
Dazai's a strategist at heart, brain meant for laying traps instead of unraveling them, and while saving people is a noble goal, it's also a deeply boring one. Growing up walking through firefights, creating complex strategies that put his life on the line, dodging graviton bombs to nullify Corruption - he didn't become an adrenaline junkie, exactly, but he became adrenaline dependent.
Dazai's future at the Agency stretches out before him like the most bland of landscapes and some days it makes him want to just put a bullet in his brain because getting used to that sounds like hell.
Or, Dazai makes progressively worsening life choices.
